The following notice is inform merchants of an upcoming change to our API.
## Change Details
- **Current Behaviour**: The `ID` field in the API transaction responses returns a string where the last segment (after the last `-`) is 8 characters long. The first two segments are variable length.
- **New Behaviour (Effective from 3/10/2023):** The length of the ID string last segment will be increased by 8 characters, making it **16** characters long. On average the entire ID length will be *up to* 28 characters long.
## What This Means for You
1. **Backward Compatibility**: Existing IDs will remain valid. This change only affects the length of new IDs generated after the rollout date.
2. **Integration Adjustments**: If you have systems or integrations that rely on the specific length of the ID, please review and adjust them to accommodate the new length. We recommend that you update the size of your fields to at least 32 bytes.
3. **No Action Required**: For most merchants, this change will be seamless, and no action will be needed. We're making this announcement to ensure transparency and to assist those who may have length-specific configurations.
## Testing The change will be available in our sandbox environment from 18/9/2023.
